Tena Link was born from evidence — and this published academic research laid the foundation. As part of our early academic journey, we conducted a rigorous study exploring the factors influencing adolescent girls’ acceptance of menstrual tracking apps. This research, published in the Ethiopian Journal of Development Research, used a sequential mixed-methods approach and integrated the Health Belief Model with the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to understand behavioral intentions behind using SRH mobile tools.
The study found that perceived usefulness, ease of use, self-efficacy, and cues to action were significant predictors of app acceptance — while perceived threats like teenage pregnancy had indirect impacts. These insights directly informed the design principles of Tena Link.
